Corbett Bar, CorbettBarr.com, published a post called, Rewrite the Rules.
In his post, Corbett gives us a dozen or so things we might think we either have to do or can’t do.
I prefer to think of these things as stories we hold as truths, that limit the kinds of desirable results we can create in the physical world.
Yes, you CAN change your stories around any results you’re getting that you don’t like and begin to produce new, more desirable results.
The problem is exposed when you try to change your stories but discover that it’s not so easy.
The reason it’s not easy is because sometimes we’re held back by stories we are not even aware of.
Personally, I had one these “hidden stories” around the disappearance of my father–a man I never even knew–that had been affecting my life’s outcomes in profound and undesirable ways.
It wasn’t until I had the good fortune to hire a skilled healer to help me see, deal with, and change that story, that I could begin to produce the kinds of results I want most in my life.
(It’s kinda like the not knowing what you don’t know effect.)
Often it takes more than a self-help pep talk to breakthrough the rules or stories you have that are causing you to sabotage your own success or that are holding you back in some way.
After 10 years of being a serious consumer of personal development, the investment that produced the most rapid results was hiring a skilled coach.
Nearly all athletes and top level performers in most fields have coaches and/or mentors. If you don’t have one…why not?
